Body
Body plastic surgery reflects a wide range of procedures, from cosmetic “touch-ups” to significant body contouring following massive weight loss, with a host of other treatments in between. Some of the more common body procedures that Dr. Pathy performs are described below.

Liposuction (Suction-Assisted Lipectomy, Liposculpture, Lipoplasty)
Unfortunately, despite proper diet and exercise, contour irregularities can persist. Although this procedure has many pseudonyms and the procedural techniques have several variations, liposuction addresses fat accumulation that can result in uneven countours. Liposuction addresses excess fat through means of suctioning through small incisions. Because a requirement of liposuction is that the skin must have adequate elasticity to shrink back into place after the excess fat cells are removed, not every patient is a candidate for this procedure alone. A compression garment is worn post-operatively to assist in attaining the optimal contour. Common sites of liposuction include the abdomen, hips, thighs, arms, and neck.
The tumescent technique, which involves injecting a high volume of an anesthetic solution, is often used in conjunction with liposuction to reduce post-procedural pain and bruising. In addition, other liposuction modifications which Dr. Pathy frequently utilizes include Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL) which makes use of a rapidly vibrating device that can target certain challenging pockets of thick tissue, and VASER® Lipo, (Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance), which utilizes an ultrasound-assisted liposuction system.
Each procedure is individualized to the patient, and a combination of techniques is frequently used to achieve the ideal result.

Brachioplasty (Arm Lift)
Significant weight loss can result in better overall health in certain patients, but it also often results in loose, inelastic skin. A brachioplasty procedure removes excess skin and some fat from the arm to allow the arms to fit better into clothes as well as to yield a more natural contour.
Thigh Lift
Excess skin and fat is removed from the medial (inner) or lateral (outer) portions of the thigh to achieve a smoother contour and improved tightening. Depending upon the pre-operative shape of the thigh and the areas that need to be targeted for removal, the incisions may be relatively concealed in the groin or may require an additional incision so as to remove the necessary excess tissue.
Labiaplasty (Labial Rejuvenation, Vaginal Rejuvenation)
Some women have an excess of tissue at their labia minora (“inner lips”) of the external genitalia. This excess can be congenital, but it can also become exacerbated by pregnancy and aging. Although most women present for cosmetic reasons, there are those who have significant excess tissue which interferes with sexual activity, causes a higher frequency of urinary tract and yeast infections, and results in localized irritation and discomfort, especially while wearing clothing. A labiaplasty procedure, which is a form of vaginal rejuvenation, involves removing the excess tissue to achieve both a cosmetic and functional improvement.
