Non-surgical Therapies
Patients often desire minimal recovery time with the maximal results possible. Clearly, more invasive therapies often have a greater reward at the expense of a longer recovery period. However, there are a number of non-surgical therapies that are the mainstay of an Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon.

Botox® Cosmetic
When facial muscles move, they often create creases in the skin. After years of making conscious or unconscious facial expressions, these lines can deepen. Botox® Cosmetic is a safe treatment that is used to help smooth a variety of facial wrinkles, such as in the forehead, the area between the eyebrows (glabella), and the crow’s feet. Several tiny injections are used to relax the underlying muscles, which in turn helps to diminish the wrinkles. The treatments are individualized, but generally, the effect lasts between three and five months.

Dermal Fillers
There are a host of dermal fillers currently on the market. Names such as Restylane®, Perlane®, Juvéderm®, Prevelle® Silk, and others are commonly seen in television and print advertisements. These products are different than Botox® Cosmetic in that they are injected in gel form to give more volume to specific areas of the face. Commonly targeted areas are the lines that run between the outer nostrils and the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds), the lines running vertically below the corners of the mouth (marionette lines), and the lips. The cheek can also be built up in volume using some of these products to create a type of injectable cheek implant. Most of these products vary in their durability, lasting anywhere from four months to over one year. A topical and sometimes injectable anesthetic is utilized in combination with ice therapy to make your experience as comfortable as possible. Based upon your goals and preferences, Dr. Pathy will work with you to determine which product or products are right for you.

Fat Transfer
Fat transfer, also known as fat grafting or fat injection, has seen a steadily rising popularity. It essentially involves improving defects or deformities in contour with one’s own, natural tissue. During this process, fat is extracted from an area of the patient’s body, such as the abdomen, in a process similar to liposuction. However, unlike liposuction, which targets pockets of fat for removal, fat grafting additionally focuses upon replacing the fat to specific areas to enhance volume. The fat which has been extracted is gently processed through one of a number of different methods to yield purified fat, separating it from the extraneous fluids. This purified fat is subsequently injected into an area, such as the breast or face, to achieve an immediate improvement in contouring.
